Malawi is largely rural with 84 percent of the population living in rural areas and deriving their livelihoods from agriculture. Malawi’s female population is estimated at 9.2 million, representing 51 percent, while the male population is approximately 8.9 million, representing 49 percent.

WIth 1/3 of all households headed by women, programs like Women’s Empowerment and Village development are needed. UVT has assisted in creating numerous businesses and training for women to make money in order to support their families.
